The only person you can truly compare yourself too is you.
I hear it all the time.
I want to look like him or her.
The problem is you aren’t them your you.
There’s no reason you can’t look awesome in yourself but unless there some sort of freak genetic co-incidence your never going to look like them.
This becomes an even bigger problem when ‘them’ is a fitness model or similar at the top of their game.
The reason you are you comes down to genetics and these elite athletes also happen to have elite genetics.
Unfortunately much like the fact you aren’t going to be as fast as Usain bolt because he’s got one in a billion genetics you probably aren’t going to look like these athletes either because they are in the top percentile in the world.
One of the most prominent examples of this is seeing some Instagram model (who’s pictures are probably edited btw) with a big bum and very little fat elsewhere flogging some supplement or crappy workout and think that’s all they need to do to look the same.
Then when that enviably doesn’t work they’ll get down about it.
The truth is these woman are very fortunate to have the specific fat distribution that allows them to maintain their bum whilst being small everywhere else.
It’s no different to big boobs you’ve either got them or you don’t.
I’m not saying you can’t improve your glutes by training them but chances are your never going to achieve that same look so don’t BEAT yourself up about it.
The point is, if you want to be happy with your physique the only person you should be comparing yourself too is you.
If your making progress from where you’ve been to where you want to be that is success.
However compare yourself to an elite selection of genetic freaks is only going to result in negativity.
