Hi my name is Ross, 31, I’m the owner of RT Fitness in Durham and I have abs…
You’re probably thinking straight off “hey of course you have abs you’re a coach… you should have abs!”
But my journey hasn’t been easy, I am human… it was hard to get them and it’s just as hard to maintain them.
As a child most of my family was overweight and to this day still are.
My mam fed us fish fingers, chips and beans pretty much everyday topped with 2 slices of white bread, Angel delight for afterwards and some fizzy pop to get it all down.
Typical meal for an 80’s child.
I was actually a lean kid, mostly due to playing out in the street from morning till night with bike rides, climbing trees, etc.
Fast forward to my late teens early 20’s and I didn’t half pile the weight on… They used to call me fat Ross…
Activity levels dropped like 99% of us do, driving to work instead of walking to school, sitting on our ass all day instead of playing out, boozing and takeaways were an every weekend thing with the little money we earned at the time…
Hey don’t get me wrong I loved those nights out but the damage what it was causing… I wish I could turn back time and give myself a man slap…
I have never been a lover of veg, from being a kid to the age above and even now…I really dislike the stuff…
I went and worked abroad and the fat continued to pile on…
When I came back obviously my mates took the piss out of me for piling on another 2 stone so enough was enough…
I made it my goal to get in shape and stay in shape from then on…
It’s taken me 10 years! 10 years of trial and error in what to eat, when to eat, cardio, weightlifting, mma, boxing… You name it I’ve done it…
And do you know what?
It’s still fucking hard
I have to be motivated every day, push myself, prep all my meals, not get bored of the things I eat… I’ve got RT Fitness to run, I’m a fiance and a dad of 2, I’m studying all the time… I’ve got exactly the same struggles you have…
Do you really think I enjoy watching what I eat and drink for most of the time?
Don’t get me wrong I still have takeaways and drink but it’s always in moderation…
The HUGE plus side to all of this is being fitter, healthier, stronger and feeling confident when I’m on holiday…
Not to mention that when I’m coaching the RT100 they know I’ve done it all, I’ve been on the journey so anything I ever ask of them has a purpose and won’t be another faddy diet or training plan… I am sharing what works… I’m sharing the knowledge that has cost me thousands over the years…
To get a good physique takes time and dedication and a shit load of struggles but in the end you’ll get there and I tell you what…it’s worth it!
