Me and Sarah are going on our holidays in less than 2 weeks!!
It’s a funny thing going on holiday… you always want to be in your best shape, when after your holiday, putting your pics up on social media about the time you had, you’d actually like to show off more than just your tanned face…
So most of the time, when I’m going away, I’d do quite a strict diet for around 8 weeks prior and train my arse off… Weights, extra cardio… Whatever I can to get me looking awesome in the sunshine…
But… this time around, having noticed myself and been told I’m a grouchy, stressful cutter, I’ve been sensible. Since January I’ve stuck to my guns and just been in a slight calories deficit and I’ve not done a single bit of cardio… well If you follow us you’ll have seen we’ve been out on the mountain bike a few times but that’s been for adventure more than anything else.
By doing it gradually I’ve not been overly restrictive, I’ve still enjoyed some of the things I love to eat, I’ve not given up my weekly curry or my favourite weekend tipple. My body is in good nick now… I’ve lost my winter pouch and I’m looking forward to hitting the beach!
BUT here comes the part where most of us mess right up… HOLIDAY MODE…
This little shit kicks in roughly 2 weeks before your flight… You’re now in NEED of this holiday, you don’t want to train, you want to have a few beers, you couldn’t give a monkies about your work mates because YOU’RE GOING ON HOLIDAY… Yippee!!!
It’s this weird mind set where you can literally undo all of your hard work prior to looking good on the beach…
It’s this time you’ve got to give yourself a slap and sort it out, you can easily undo it all by eating and drinking like you’ve already arrived at the all inclusive…
And by writing this I’m kind of telling myself sort it out, so on that note I’m off to train… Less than 2 weeks, it’s not worth messing up… Hard work, hard training and on point with the nutrition like I have been since January…
We all know that when we are training hard the good eating comes along with it… Just got to knuckle down…
If you’ve got a holiday coming up you’ve got to eradicate this feeling and know your goals… those social media pics last forever… Well… Unless you delete them, but isn’t that quite a sad place to be? I know Sarah would love to have a photo album full of memories but in this day and age they rest in the cloud… Don’t delete your memories this year because you weren’t in the shape you wanted to be in.
Have an awesome week!
