2016 was one hell of a year for many of our clients who were “sweating for the wedding”…
Well… this year it’s our turn… Ross and I have booked our wedding for September 2017 and, well, the discussions of bulking and cutting have already begun!!!
So… what’s my plan…
Well it’s a tough one, as Ross has said many times before you probably only have 1-2 good diets per year…. I’m not really in bad shape, I am pretty much consistently inconsistent throughout the year with nutrition so whilst my training is on point and I’m in good shape I’d like to think I would be able to at least hone in the diet in the run up to the wedding so I’m at my leanest. I do fear, however, that I may have peaked early and been possibly in the best shape I can be a good few months back…
So.. I have my Hen Do in May and then our wedding in September… to be “on point” 8 weeks out from the Hen Do and then again from May all the way up to September would for me be an absolute misery. If I apply pressure I go off the boil Wwwwaaaaayyyy to easily… So I’m going to eat as much as possible… 2500kcals is my maintenance (which I am even currently struggling to eat having been off the tracking wagon for Christmas)… I want to go beyond that if possible and add some additional muscle mass… Then 8-12 weeks out from the wedding, I’m going to cut… to me, a cut will be 2000 kcal so nothing too drastic… So, I won’t be in my best shape for the pool partying Hen Do, but so fuck…
Also… having said that, whilst I have a bit of a plan in my head, if I stay exactly the same as I am now, I’ll be happy. I’m going to enjoy every single minute of the months ahead, planning all of the finer details for our 3 week wedding adventure, choosing the extras for the big day, dress shopping, helping Ross choose a suit (although he needs minimal help in this department, his last suit at a friends wedding absolutely stole the show), choosing wedding rings, the hen do (which undoubtedly will involve lots of food and drink)… just everything… (Big Smiles Here)
I think whilst it’s a great reason to get in shape for men and women, you want to be the absolute best you on your big magical day, too many people put too much pressure on themselves and become despondent, they forget what this is all about… There’s enough additional stresses of a wedding without being super restrictive with your nutrition.
I am at this point writing this with a huge grin on my face as I literally cannot wait to marry my best friend, my rock… the man who brings out the best in me and the man who isn’t behind or in front of me on any journey we make, we are side by side, through thick and thin.
Let the fun begin!!! If 2016 was anything to go by September is gonna come round quicker than we think!!!
So, if you’re sweating for your wedding and maybe want to enjoy it rather than add it to your list of stresses, I’m more than happy to have a chat with you about what you could do differently with either your nutrition or your training. This isn’t a sales pitch neither, if you want to pick my brains, bride-to-be to bride-to-be, drop me a message and I’ll help in any way I can over messenger or over the phone… I’m most definitely feeling the love!!!
Sarah “Soon to Be Thompson” Purvis ….. EEEEEEEEEKKKK!!!!
