What a Year 2015 Has Been!!!

What a year 2015 has been!!!

We are going to blow our own trumpets here because since starting out in 2012 in just a garage and a muddy field… this year has been our finest… RT Fitness has gone from a one man mission to a 3 strong team of coaches dedicated to making fitness a way of life…

We could go on and on about the countless results we have gathered this year with the typical before and after pictures, individual results, or about how we as coaches have seen out 2015…

But… We’d like to share with you a different message… A sincere message of thanks…

Without the clients who make up RT Fitness we would just be another gym…

So where do we start??

They say like attracts like…

Well… We must be the most awesome people around because this year we have attracted the greatest bunch of people in the north east we have EVER come across… we literally didn’t know these people even existed and our faith in humanity has been firmly restored.

We have literally had so many good, honest people join us all year round and I’m pleased to say most have stayed for the long haul and will be with us at the start of 2016 too.

When you hit a standard gym at peak times you’re likely to find glum looking faces waiting around for the kit to become available… not here… that’s when RT Fitness comes alive!!! The gym at this time is home to our Team Carnage Crew, Warrior Women and Strip and Rip members and I don’t think there’s a single moment that goes by when someone isn’t smiling… unless of course you hear Dan a.k.a Captain Carnage shout out “burpees”…

Everyone greets one another, dishes out the high fives after a hard set, bids farewell and then often we get the Facebook notifications on-going throughout the day reminiscing the sessions highlights, or just discussion of the on-set of DOMS!

People have made solid friendships and not only socialise here in the facility but also outside, nights out, coffees, shopping trips… there are pet names, nicknames and an overall fondness for each other that is akin to that of an extended family.

Before the sessions begin, most are in at least half an hour early, just chilling in coffee corner having a good old chin wag… it’s like RT Fitness has its own buzzing little coffee shop… bearing in mind most people start this journey alone and as soon as they start the gang welcome them with open arms… It’s really inspiring to see… In case you don’t believe us… Check out this blog from our Carnage member Sarah

When they get results they share the moment with each other… they give each other’s head a shake when the results are pretty damn good but just not quite as good as they’d wanted.

When they don’t get results they talk amongst themselves about it, they discuss it and have the knowledge to understand why they haven’t achieved what they set out to… they give each other support, a consoling glance or a good old kick up the arse if that’s what’s required…

When we hold our in house seminars the crew come in notebook and pen in hand ready to educate themselves further (in 2016 these will become a monthly occurrence).

The aforementioned Sarah blogs about her experience here each and every week… this is our little read for the week and fills us with an inexplicable joy about the job we are doing, about the atmosphere and community we house. We’ve shared frustrations, sad tears, happy tears and most of all laughs, each week brings something new…

We are very snap happy here at RT Fitness because we want to show the world what we are up to… yes we might get a couple of people run from the camera but most are right up for it… we’ve had the sneaky V’s and caught many an F Bomb on there, but hey… we are all here having fun and at the end of the day, if you can change your life and have fun doing it… why the hell not?!

We’ve taken people from giving up half way through a session, walking out and thinking that it’s not for them to becoming long time members and actually doing extra sessions when a challenge is put in front of them…

Taken people who could only hold a plank for 10 seconds to holding it well over a minute…

We have had people who couldn’t even bench press an empty barbell (20kg) to lifting 70kg… that’s a 350% increase!!!

We actually have someone who couldn’t do one chin up with the extra thick resistance band to smashing 8 unassisted within 6 months

We’ve helped people fit into Bridesmaid dresses, Wedding dresses and Jean sizes they’ve not wore since they were 18…

Our Warriors are some of the strongest ladies you could come across and although strength isn’t their primary goal they love the group environment and push each other to the next level every time!!!

Our Strip lads are mega competitive but completely without ego, it’d be a challenge to get a nicer group of lads in a testosterone fuelled environment, pushing each other through that last rep and having awesome banter throughout achieving their goals…

And then finally… for 2015… the prowler…

When you get on this thing for the first time you think to yourself “what have I gotten myself into”… and now we’ve got your average mums asking the coach to add more weight so they can continuously push it for 5 and even 6 minute rounds… you wouldn’t see athletes training this hard… Supermums!!!

So it’s with great thanks and endless gratitude that the members of RT Fitness make this place what it is… without each and every one of you your team mates would not have the same experience… We call this home and hope you consider it yours…

We cannot thank you enough…

Have the most awesome Christmas ever… enjoy it to the absolute max and if we don’t see you through those few cheeky sessions over the festive period we will all be ready to kick ass in the new year!!!

Here’s to 2016, love to you all!!!

Ross, Sarah and Dan
